Express International Inc., one of Guyana's fastest-growing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies, on Friday, September 30, opened a multi-million-dollar facility at First Street Henrietta Village on the Essequibo Coast.
At the official launch, the company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ken Deocharran, revealed that the operation was birthed from a conversation with Chief Executive Officer of GO-Invest, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop. He added that while 14 staff started the operations two weeks ago, some 150 more persons are expected to come on board by next year, and potentially growing even more. "We have seen strive already in such a short time. The [employees] here in Essequibo have already exceeded our expectations, and that is very welcoming. It definitely encourages us to want to grow in Essequibo," Deocharran highlighted. According to Deocharran, his goal is to build an environment where people work while achieving their dreams and aspirations.
Chairwoman of Region Two Velma DaSilva welcomed the investment, noting that it will fill the unemployment gap in the region. Meanwhile, the CEO of GO-Invest, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, echoed similar sentiments as he noted that Region Two is the perfect location to house any BPO company.
Guyanese-born Deocharran formed Express International in 2013 with one employee providing transportation logistics services on the West Coast of Demerara. Today, Express has diversified its service delivery beyond transportation and has a workforce of approximately 400 employees locally. Deocharran noted that the aim is to create a strong brand through people-first leadership and development. He believes investing in his people is the surest way to continue delivering exceptional performance to clients, which will aid growth and create more jobs in Guyana.
Premised on this fact, the company earlier this year pledged a whopping $42 million geared towards talent and brand development.
